Business Continuity Planning for Queensland Rail Passenger Print E-mail
It was all hands to the pump towards the end of 2009 to deliver high quality outcomes on time when TMS Consulting worked with the Queensland Rail Passenger group to develop Business Continuity Recovery Plans for essential business functions across the group.  The project spanned 17 essential functions and resulted in Business Impact Analysis’ and Business Continuity Plans for each of these essential functions.

TMS Consulting’s philosophy is to work in close partnership with its clients to ensure the relevance of deliverables.   In this case, TMS has worked with business experts across business units within Queensland Rail Passenger to tailor business continuity solutions through the development of high level process maps and a report with broader recommendations for the organisation to consider.

Recognising that business continuity is an important component of organisational risk management, the Business Continuity Recovery Plans have been developed with the intention of resuming key business functions as quickly as possible and to ensure the continuity of essential business services.  The Business Resumption phase commences from the time of an initial ‘outage’ and extends for a period of up to four weeks (approximately).  The plans cover this period and the workarounds required to ensure business can continue within the context of business continuity objectives which were set as part of the planning process.

Future phases will test and validate the plans and ensure they are further refined to reflect ongoing business changes within the organisation.
