Our InFocus Series gives our readers a chance to get to know a little bit more about our team and what makes them tick. In this edition we talk to an incredibly valuable member of our team, Strategic Sourcing Coordinator, Sue Maher who works out of our Brisbane office.
I came to work at TMS because … After returning from maternity leave I made contact with a former colleague of mine in the recruitment industry who worked at TMS. He spoke highly of TMS as a consulting and recruitment firm and how they worked as a business. TMS appealed to me as a professional and well-regarded firm in the industry, plus a very supportive work environment for staff. A little luck played a part in the timing and now I have been at TMS over two and a half years.
In my work I am passionate about … quality work for clients and my colleagues, as well as being positive to work around.
What I enjoy most about TMS is … the supportive workplace and enjoying what we do. We are of the size that it is like one family and everyone is encouraged to look after each other.
My first job was … working Sunday mornings in my parent’s newsagent shop. $10 in wages for about 5 hours work!
The person I most admire professionally is … I have worked for many good leaders so I can’t really name just one. I really admire those who display strong professional traits inside and outside the work place, who relate to people of all levels equally and are positive to be around.
The best piece of advice I have ever been given is … treat people as you want to be treated and don’t be afraid of hard work. Surround yourself with positive people, at work and outside of work.
The thing that makes me most happy outside work is … watching my two little children grow up healthy and happy, keeping fit, enjoying local places and good friendships.
